Laure van Heijenoort practices employee benefits law, primarily representing Taft-Hartley health, apprenticeship, and pension plans in the construction industry.
She handles plan design, drafting of plan documents, negotiation of plan service provider agreements, plan mergers, federal regulatory compliance, legal issues related to plan investments, strategic planning, and DOL investigations. She has enjoyed setting up pre-apprenticeship programs, labor-management cooperation committees, and collectively bargained workers’ compensation plans.
Ms. van Heijenoort has spoken on employee benefit issues at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and published articles on a variety of ERISA topics including defined contribution plans, qualified domestic relations orders, and the selection of plan service providers. She has been a contributing author and co-chapter editor of the ABA Bloomberg BNA’s treatise Employee Benefits Law.
